In line with security, Search Engine optimization is another factor to your WordPress rank higher because it will help you improve traffic, gain more subscribers and have a better website in general. In this article, I’m going to show you some of the fundamental on-page search engine optimization techniques with WordPress SEO by Yoast.
1. Optimize your Titles
The title is one of the most important factors for ranking in the search results. It’s the first line people see in the search results, followed by the URL.
Many times, you may make your title an match of your keyword. However, writing for search engines isn’t the best idea. Better to write for people, and then refine your pages later for search engines. That means you can launch your article with a reader friendly article, and then go back and optimize it later.
2. Optimize your descriptions
After optimizing titles, you should begin to focus on meta descriptions. Although the description doesn’t affect your search engine ranking, it’s great for increasing the click through of your existing search results. The meta description can be used by search engines to show in the excerpt, it’s the piece of text shown beneath the URL.
So, you should include your keyword in that meta data. When that keyword in your meta data, it will become bolded in the search results, more attention to your result.
3. Optimize Images
It is said that images is very necessary and should appear in your posts because it can generate a lot of traffic from search engines. However, to get this traffic, you need to optimize your images. The things you should do when optimizing images such as: optimize alt text – that the search engine uses to understand images, file size, file name and description.
4. Keyword Rich URL
One of the best ways to let search engines know that your website is highly relevant to a specific keyword phrase is by having it in your URL. You can use the way to add a subpage to your already existing domain, our keywords will be in bold.
5. Links
There are some different kind of links. Inbound links from other websites, outbound links to other websites, and interlinks to your own website.
For outbound links, that means you are linking out to another page that is relevant to your page and keyword phrase, it can be helpful to use your keywords because these plugins search through your posts database to find posts with the same subject, and add links to these posts.
For interlinking, the act of linking to other pages inside your website. This gives you a really easy opportunitu to create a strong backlink to another page in you are trying to SEO. Interlinking can also be the links to your categories in your sidebar, links to your pages in your navigation, a Similar Posts listing after your content.
